TNB’s overseas ventures get the go ahead for Kuwait project
Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and its Kuwaiti joint venture partner have received a letter of award to operate and maintain a power plant in Kuwait with a contract value of RM1bil.
TNB said on Monday Kuwait’s Central Tender Committee had issued a letter to the jont venture of TNB and Kharafi National of Kuwait to operate and maintain the Shuaiba North co-generation (power and distillation) plant in Kuwait.
“The contract valued at about RM1bil is for seven years. It is expected to be signed soon,” said TNB.
TNB said the plant, owned by the Kuwaiti Government, is in the Shuaiba industrial authority area, about 40km from Kuwait City.
The dual-fired plant (natural gas and distillate) is able to produce around 780 MW of power and 45 million gallons per day of distilled water.
