Veolia Environment was awarded a contract for a reverse-osmosis desalination plant on the Arabian Gulf by Marafiq, the Saudi power and water utility for Jubail and Yanbu, al-Riyadh newspaper said without disclosing terms.
Citing an announcement by the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu, the paper said Prince Saud bin Abdullah was to sign the contract today in which Sidem France and Sidem Saudi Arabia, units of Europe’s largest water company, will be responsible for designing, building, operating and maintaining the plant in Jubail in the kingdom’s Eastern Province.
The desalination plant will provide water for a second chemicals complex, also located in Jubail, for Sadara Chemical Co., a venture of Saudi Arabia Oil Co. and Dow Chemical Co. (DOW), the paper said.
