Mahindra Group company Mahindra EPC is planning to commission over 300 MW of solar power projects over the next two years.
“The company is planning to execute over 300 MWp (megawatt photovoltaic) of solar power projects over the next two years,” a statement said.
“As part of Mahindra Group’s rise philosophy and our commitment to meeting India’s growing energy security needs, we have forayed into the renewable and clean energy sector,” Zhooben Bhiwandiwala, Executive Vice President, Member- Group Executive Board, Mahindra Group, said.
The company today inaugurated a 5 MW solar plant at Bikaner in Rajasthan in partnership with PR Fonroche, a joint-venture between PR Clean Energy and Fonroche Energie of France.
The two companies plan to construct one more 15 MW solar plant at Bikaner.
These projects were awarded under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission’s Phase I Batch II scheme, the statement said adding that the first of the two projects – of 5 MWp (megawatt photovoltaic)- was commissioned in December 2012, the statement said.
Meanwhile, PR Fonroche, a joint-venture between PR Clean Energy and Fonroche Energie of France plans to commission 200 MWp of solar power plants in the country in the next 3-4 years.
“With the success of these initial investments, PR Fonroche targets the commissioning of at least 200MWp over the next 3-4 years, introducing new solar solutions for private and industrial consumers,” the statement said.
However, both the companies did not disclose any further details of the investments.
