Leitwind Shriram Manufacturing, an India-European joint venture between Shriram Group and Windfin BV (formerly Leitwind BV) which makes wind electric generators; has received a Rs 346 crore for the supply and installation of machines from Neyveli Lignite Corporation for a a 51 MW wind farm at Kaluneerkulam near Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.

This order follows Leitwind’s recent completion of the supply, erection and commissioning of a wind farm of a capacity of 43.2 MW in Tadipatri in Andhra Pradesh for Orient Green Power Company Limited.

Leitwind will be in charge of procuring of land, designing, manufacturing, supplying, installing, testing, commissioning the machines, and will also take care of the operation and maintenance of farm, a statement from the company said. The order is to be executed over a period of 10 months.

This is part of NLC’s plans to foray into the renewable energy sector. The public sector company, in May, had said that it would add 50 MW of wind power, and 30 MW of solar by March 2014.

“The prospects of the sector are looking up once more with the resumption of regulatory incentives and we are confident that we will be able to build on our position in the segment. Timely and effective execution of such orders from marquee clients will help us to further enhance our track record,” P Ashok, managing director of Leitwind Shriram Manufacturing Limited, said.
