Strong showings in power, water and telecommunications rankings reflect company’s stature in critical infrastructure sectors
OVERLAND PARK, Kansas (29 April 2021) – Black & Veatch announces it once again has ranked as a leader in the power, telecommunications, water and sewer and waste space. The engineering, construction and procurement (EPC) company placed highly in four categories of the Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) just-released “Top 500 Design Firms” Sourcebook, reflecting the company’s strong position with clients pursuing decarbonization, sustainability and resilience programs.
ENR’s rankings are based on revenue from the company’s global operations. The Top 500 Design Firms Sourcebook ranked Black & Veatch’s power business No. 2 for the sixth consecutive year. Black & Veatch also secured a No. 2 ranking for telecommunications, No. 7 for water and No. 8 for sewer and waste, cementing the company’s standing as a global infrastructure solutions expert.
This recognition comes as Black & Veatch undertakes an aggressive transformation in how it provides services to an increasingly diverse client base, which ranges from Fortune 100 companies to local, state and national governments. Last November, the company announced it was strengthening its sustainability vision through sweeping pledges addressing environmental and business practices, including its own carbon neutrality by 2025. It separately declared an end to its participation in coal-based power design and construction, focusing instead on clean energy technologies and helping clients accelerate their path to net zero.
“Sustainability, reliability and resilience initiatives are driving the engineering and construction sectors to rapidly evolve and focus on the integrated solutions that will achieve these goals,” said Steve Edwards, CEO of Black & Veatch. “The ENR rankings reflect our deep experience across diverse sectors and ongoing efforts to add value along every step of the infrastructure lifecycle for our clients.”
Black & Veatch continues to drive innovation across critical infrastructure markets:
