CSIC Haizhuang 5MW Prototypes Achieve Grid Connection
Grid connection and full power have been achieved for two offshore Haizhuang 5MW prototypes produced by CSIC Haizhuang and installed last autumn at the Rudong inter-tidal wind farm in the east China province of Jiangsu.
Like many Chinese wind turbine manufacturers, CSIC (Chongqing) Haizhuang Windpower Equipment Co is focused on the rapid development of larger machines designed for offshore deployment. The two pitch-controlled variable speed prototypes with 154m rotor diameter were installed at Longyuan Power’s 150MW Rudong project late last year.
Haizhuang’s chair, Yang Benxin, emphasized that his company’s offshore wind development program is underpinned by close relations with several European firms – notably, Mecal, LM and Lehnhoff Consulting – and that it has set up a research and development centre in Denmark.
Another Chinese wind turbine manufacturer that operates a Danish R&D centre is Envision.
Guodian United Power has also installed and grid connected an offshore prototype, with a 6MW machine installed at Weifang, Shandong province.
